The Sleep Time and Rise "n" Shine Thread For 11/6-7/12: Troll Polls (TWD Election 2012 Coverage)

Image
This election has featured desperation by our centrist, corporate media to make this as much of a horserace as possible. Every chance of a poll showing a tight race has been ushered onto TV producer's laps with their hosts so happy to get the news of a race being so close. Chuck Todd, Andrea Mitchell, the Morning Joe crew, and all the folks at CNN are always desperate for a nail-bitter, and have gladly mentioned any poll from any source to push that idea. But try as they might, with barely acknowledging Republican voter suppression efforts to not mess up their dream 2000 or 2004 narrative, it looks like it will not work whatsoever. And it will be incumbent (no pun intended) on many people requesting that polling organizations begin a fundamental overhaul of conducting their polls immediately. The obsession over highlighting racially excursionist "Likely Voter" models has been antiquated since 2008. Now you can apply that to mid-term election years, but with...

The Catch Up Thread For 8/30/10: Gallup Poll Shows Historic Numbers.....That Are Bad For Democrats

Image
While the site hasn't been active today, here is what has transpired in the major headlines today. I'm not one to follow polls vigorously, but some of them you just can't ignore. This Gallup poll of registered voters (the one that is much more accurate than the antiquated "likely voter" model) is not very good news for the Democratic Party and voter enthusiasm . The ACLU has a powerful vote on the lawsuit to stop Obama's assassination plan: Where in the hell is Jerry Brown ? This guy is more invisible than Adam Smith's hand. 75% of US cases at Guantanamo Bay on suspected terrorists have been defeated . "What a surprise" when someone gets a fair trial down there....what a surprise. They all want their Nevada man, including Joey Lie, to stay at the head of the House of Lords . Certainly not one of Rick Sanchez's finer moments . Goodness gracious, what was he thinking there? And if they get some power again, guess what they are...

The Other Deliveries Report For 7/26/10: Michele Steele Loves Himself Some Good Old Breitbart!

Image
I guess Michael Steele doesn't mind having Andrew Breitbart be apart of his fund raising event : Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele has a party fundraising event coming up in August that is scheduled to feature a very special guest: Conservative media activist Andrew Breitbart, according to a copy of the invitation exclusively obtained by TPM. The fundraising event, billed as an "Election Countdown," will take place from August 12-14 in Beverly Hills, California, and will also feature other politicians such as California Lt. Gov. Abel Maldonado, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, and Nevada Republican gubernatorial nominee Brian Sandoval. Steele and Breitbart are scheduled to co-headline a welcome reception on the first evening, August 12. He is just addicted to being a laughingstock, isn't he? Despite how much Freightfart has further reduced himself to the thought of being associated with him is unconscionable, Steele has no second thoughts of removing hi...

But It's Still Great News From Republicans!

Image
Despite them still sucking at 17%, while Democrats are up at 47% rating in Congress. This month's improvement in congressional approval is bipartisan, with approval among Democrats climbing from 36% to 47% and among Republicans edging up from 9% to 17%. Independents, however, buck that trend: moving from 16% to 14%, the percentage approving is the lowest it has been all year. But they probably will be yelling this line that Gallup provides! Congress' job approval rating now precisely matches the 26% recorded in November 2006, just before control of the House shifted from Republicans to Democrats, and is not too dissimilar from the 23% recorded in October 1994, just before control shifted from Democrats to Republicans. And all that talk about Independents on he rise and all, well....... They went down by 2%.

Gallup Poll: Surprise, Red States Dominate The Most Uninsured, Blue States Top List On Other Side

Image
From Gallup , click on to enlarger: Ok, there actually was one thing that made me say "Really" when I saw this list (though it may not have surprised you, the reader). The fact that California is on the uninsured list is a real shocker for me there at first glance. However, now that I think of it, with Arnold being Governor and how the state has been recked arguably the hardest (or they can make a legit case) by the Cheney/Bush Recession, it really doesn't shock me now that the Golden State has horrendous numbers in this area. Other than that, nothing else really stunning here. You can easily say that at least six of those states on the uninsured side are no-question red. And that does not include New Mexico (who went Bush in 2004, but went Obama in 2008), Nevada (see New Mexico info), or Florida (you know the deal by now). And in most of those states, there are some, especially when it is that high in Texas (26.9%), who are POSSIBLY UNINSURED, who are fighting against m...

11/3/08-TWD's Agenda For the NEXT TWO DAYS: Election Overload, Overload, Overload

First, watch this video, and it shows the importance of voting. Second, if you didn't hear it yet, Sarah Palin gets embarrassingly prank. It is indeed another example of how poor the McCain-Palin campaign has been: A Canadian comedy duo called The Masked Avengers from CKOI 96.9 FM in Montreal, Quebec pranked Sarah Palin , convincing her (and her team) they were receiving a call from French President Nicolas Sarkozy. In the interview, which lasts about six minutes, Palin and the pranksters discuss politics, pundits, and the dangers of hunting with current vice-president Dick Cheney. Oh my goodness. Polls Final Gallup poll: Obama 53%, McCain 42% Final Quinnipac poll for Florida: Obama 47%, MCcain 45% Final Quinnipac poll for Ohio: Obama 50%, McCain 43% Final Quinnipac poll for Pennsylvania: Obama 52%, McCain 42% Via Mr.Moulitsas , this ridiculous news about late ballots possibly delaying the result in Arizona, and how those ballots could lead to Arizona not being decided on November ...
