Sports Sunday Thread #2 For 1/3/10: NFL Week 17 Full Review

The Colts didn't feel like playing in the snow today in the "Terell Owens" Bills finale game . Matt Moore and Jonathan Stewart are a big reason why John Fox will stay around next year as the Saints laid down today. A fourth straight win for the Browns . Could it give Eric Mangini another season? While that could truly go in any direction, the same may not be said of Jack Del Rio's situation however , but it's not a guarantee. Wes Welker out for the playoffs (and probably some part of next season). Ouch for the Patriots. Meanwhile, no playoffs for the Texans, but Gary Kubiak stays. A Vikings team in some turmoil got the perfect opponent they could ask for: A Giants team that has truly embarrassed itself in the last few weeks. Just UGLY . 8-8 season for the 49ers , as the Rams are number one on the clock to get either Ndamukong Shu or Eric Berry (unless they trade down of course). Falcons end a disappointing season with a 9-7 , while Raheem Morris waits to see if...

Sports Sunday Thread #1 For 1/3/10: The Final Week Of The NFL Season, Week 17 Preview

The only time where all 32 teams in the National Football League play on the same today is the final day of the regular season. And with that said, the drama of Week 17 is about to unfold in front of all the fans throughout the nation and abroad. 25 teams already know that their season will either continue or end regardless of what transpires at the end of their 16th game. The other seven, however, will get the answer to their postseason status or not today. All seven of those teams of course are all from the AFC, but only two control their own destiny. Here is the easy scenario that everyone knows. -The Ravens and the Jets just have to win, and they are in the playoffs. A full preview of who has the potentially easier time will come. In the midst of both the Ravens and the Jets not winning, then all hell breaks lose, leading to the Broncos, Steelers, Texans, Jaguars, and Dolphins having hope. Now pay close attention, because it is about to get rocky. -The Broncos can make it to the p...

12/29/08-TWD's Agenda For The Day, Part 1: Utter Rubbish (A TRF Column)

Photo by Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images It really did happen. So bad, that it generated a "reel feeling" from me , because it is just too real to not write about: Bad is 6-10, 5-11, 4-12. Very bad is 3-13, 2-14, 1-15. But "bad" or even "brutal" would not be sufficient enough to describe what was witnessed this year from the performances of the Detroit Lions. In their 75th year of existence, they performed lower than all expansions teams, then all bad teams, then even the all time losing teams of losing teams. "Bad", "Brutal", and even "Losers" just aren't the words to label this inept amalgamation of freight. "Utter rubbish" is what they are. "Utter rubbish" is what 0-16 is. Rookie running back Kevin Smith was one of the few players Lions fans could be proud of, but when you are apart of the mess, you make the mess as well: Smith decided it was in his best interest to taunt on the field in the 4th quarte...
