These people really are the epitome of Islamophobes : Bryan Fischer, the public face of the right-wing American Family Association, wants to make something abundantly clear : Permits should not be granted to build even one more mosque in the United States of America, let alone the monstrosity planned for Ground Zero. This is for one simple reason: each Islamic mosque is dedicated to the overthrow of the American government. As evidence for this claim, Fischer cites a flyer distributed by the Muslim Brotherhood in 1991, which is sort of like drawing broad conclusions about all Christians from a flyer distributed by...well, the American Family Association. Christianity in America continues to be embarrassed by these nut jobs on the Right. I didn't know who the hell Bryan Fischer was until today. Though he is arguably "The Sunday crap shows'"most astute host (Christian Amanpour could always contend despite her middle of the road debut last weekend), Fareed Zakaria isn't one championed around most progressive circles. As one who supported the Iraq war, Zakaria certainly has his deserved share of critics. But he is usually very thoughtful and well versed in a myraid of topics, anchoring a weekly show that actually doesn't contribute to further diminishing CNN's deteriorating band and the vapid stupidity of our Sunday news discourse. DOMA is ruled unconstitutional in Masschusetts : Today, U.S. District Court Judge Joseph L. Tauro ruled that Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) is unconstitutional with respect to claims brought by seven married same-sex couples and three widowers from Massachusetts. Under the ruling, the plaintiffs are entitled to the same federal spousal benefits and protections as every other married couple. The ruling stems from GLAD’s lawsuit Gill et al v.
