Photo from AFP Well, Greece has received their lone awaited relief from the rest of their continental brethen : The European Union and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have agreed a $146.2bn bail-out package over three years to rescue Greece's indebted economy. Finance ministers from the 16 nations that use the euro endorsed the plan on Sunday in Brussels after days of negotiation. The Greek government has announced a series of budget cuts and tax rises in return for loans, which George Papandreou, the prime minister, said involved "great sacrifices". Thank you again Wall Street!

Photo from the BBC This just in from the BBC: Riots have broken out in Greece. Fresh clashes have broken out between police and protesters in at least two Greek cities, after the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old boy by police. About 300 students are reported to be battling police in Thessaloniki, while protests turned violent in Trikala. And how did that 15 year old boy die? By figures that are suppose to uphere to and uphold the law. Two police officers have been arrested in connection with the boy's death. One of them, who is accused of murder, said he fired a warning shot and that the boy was killed by a ricochet, but witnesses told Greek television that the officer aimed directly at the boy. The second officer has been charged with being an accomplice. Tough stuff for anyone to read.
