His once protege Joachim Low and Paulo Bento are mired in figuring out who will be in their starting eleven, as a plethora of injuries to a title contending German side and Cristiano Ronaldo  tendinitis - tendonitis fears for Portugal have placed an already dif...

Sports Thread #2 For 8/10/10: Soccer Friendly- United States vs Brazil

Have some World Cup nostalgia, but likely, I won't be all over the place on Twitter with the constant play by play tonight: And hopefully this is the last game that Bob Bradley coaches for the US. Watch live video from VIP TV on Justin.tv

Sports Thread #2 For 10/13/09: Charlie Davies Seriously Hurt in Car Crash That Kills 1

Awful news rocking the soccer world right now : U.S. soccer forward Charlie Davies was in surgery on Tuesday afternoon after being involved in a severe one-car accident on the George Washington Parkway in Virginia during the early hours of Tuesday morning. There was a fatality in the accident, said U.S. Soccer spokesman Neil Buethe. He added that Davies was in stable condition and that his injuries were not considered life-threatening. Thank God that he is alive after hearing this. Thoughts and prayers are with this guy who had truly emerged as a key player not only on the US team, but one of the better young strikers in all of Ligue 1 in France. Just awful news for the Davies family and US Soccer in general. Updated : The Washington Post great soccer writer Steve Goff highlights how even more tragic this event has before: According to Goff, Davies is currently in surgery after suffering injuries that are "not life threatening." WTOP reported that the collision, which occurre...

Only Bob Bradley would do an asinine thing and start Brian Ching over Jozy Altidore Lineups: Ching----------Davies----------------- Donovan----------------------------------Dempsey -----------------Bradley-----Clark------------------------ Bocanegra-----Onyewu-----DeMerit-----Cherundolo -------------------------Howard-------------------------- MEXICO -----------------Franco---------Blanco-------------------- Guardado---------------------------------------Dos Santos ------------------Torrado------Castro--------------------- Juarez---------Magallon-------Salcido----------Osorio --------------------------Ochoa------------------------------ 3' Guardado with a fine half chance, Howard the save CHARLIE DAVIES scores!!!!! 1-0 to the US as Donovan supplies a great pass to Davies. Wonderful times indeed, and Marquez is certainly missed. But Castro's first international goal has even the score for Mexico. A great strike it was indeed by him, but terrible defending from Bocanagra, giving ...

Sports Thread #1 for 6/18/09: 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup- Brazil vs U.S. Game Thread

Photo from Getty Images' Jamie McDonald Pivotal game for both teams of course. Hopefully no stupid red cards given out today by dumb referees today. And people don't give him enough credit, but Julio Cesar is one of the world's best keepers. 7' Felipe Melo scores off a terrific free kick from Maicon (he is great at that), and terrible defending by Jonathan Spector. 20' Terrible defending as Robinho handles business and makes it 2-0 Brazil. Brazil went on to win 3-0 with the third coming from Maicon, and show once again how Bob Bradley leads the U.S. to mediocrity. And despite another referee pulling out an ill-advised, nonsensical red card, Sacha Kijestan again produced another dumb challenge just like Rico Clark did last game.
