The Cinema For 7/23/10: Let The Cholesterol Jokes Continue
In really the only premiere this weekend, "Salt" has been fed so much down your throat, you would be probably searching for some pepper to go along with it.
The consensus is middle of the road, where you have to wonder why Angelina Jolie was so desperate to want the role that was first meant for Tom Cruise.
Sometimes, quality acting also includes having an ability to pick quality scripts. And for an action film that wants to be serious yet has some just over the top action scenes for even a summer popcorn flick, it has a move identity crisis.
For the highest paid actress in the world, she and her people really could have done way better than this needy plea to show how she is thee summer action superstar.
It's nothing special, where the action scenes are done well and her presence is obviously felt. But it's one of those "Spy can walk over water" type display. And let's just say that with her looking lighter than she did in Tomb Raider, it can be a little silly proclaiming her the next true action hero.
But definitely everyone agrees that this movie starts off well, and slowly progressively gets worse.
And I think the Roeper man sums it kind of well here:
Roeper also has a great analysis for those in Inception about how he saw the ending of that film:
Like Ta-Neishi Coates said , when you have people debating whether your film is great or not, you've won.
And whether you feel Chris Nolan could get a little arrogant or his storytelling ability has some shoddy holes to it, the fact that you are debating his film making is obviously a plus for him.
