Dylan Ratigan Lets Michelle Bernard Advocate "Abolishing Teacher's Unions"
I'm sort of in the middle to leaning "he does more to not annoy me" than he does "to annoy me" on Dylan Ratigan.
Though he was nowhere to be found yelling about the perils of what the out of control trading on Wall Street when he was on CNBC the last few years, Ratigan has been nothing but a relentless critic on the "rich and powerful" almost every single day in his tenure as a highlighted MSNBC host.
Some days has led to just awesome rants on the likes of Geithner, Rubin, or even tea bagging nutcases like Mark Williams and "The only nan who could hate Shirley Sherrod in this world," Mr. Breitbart.
But Ratigan still pays this silly homage and respect to the Right and some conservatives daily, thinking that their perspective, if it comes from the honest heart, is just as commendable as the progressive wing in the Democratic Party.
Giving attention to those at the Washington Examiner and feeling like people of the Ron Paul nature truly believe in fixing our economy, as well as his sometimes incessant yelling parade, are reasons why I am always cautious to get on the "Dylan Ratigan Is Awesome" bandwagon.
What transpired yesterday makes me even more steadfast to never joining that crowd, as Ratigan gave a full forum to resident Union-bashing hate merchant Michelle Bernard to advocate for "The demolishing of teacher's unions."
Boy, was it ugly:
Another painful example that will hurt your eyes , back when Ratiagn came on in the morning last year:
But back to the latest irrational and devious assailment from Bernard.
Once again, for another and definitely NOT THE LAST TIME, teacher's unions jobs are to PROTECT teachers and give them their rights so wrongful firings or treatments from Administrators or Principals won't transpire on them without strong protection.
As Teacherken said so passionately the other day:
And further making Bernard's hatred even more appalling is her advocacy for "Merit pay" and "competition", two things that would make our education system deteriorate even more than it has already.
From Bernard to Arne Duncan, anyone calling for "higher pay for performance" has no rational idea of how proper education from proper teaching works. Disturbingly, they are not cognizant of how "teachers battling other teachers" harms to ability of co-workers to interact with each other with lesson plans and just an overall stable environment for the kids they teach.
Or, even worse, they know full well of the destruction they want to cause the public sector and the ones who are its backbone in the face of powerful elites. And in putting on a front about "Caring for our children first", they are primarily and solely thinking about benefiting just themselves.

Bernand, if you aren't familiar with her bile, is head of the conservative group Independent Woman's Forum (the "conservative" label is what Ratigan didn't even bother to mention to his viewvers). And as stated up above, Bernard's disgust is not only for teacher's unions, but all unions.Another painful example that will hurt your eyes , back when Ratiagn came on in the morning last year:
Bernard: "[A] lot of labor unions are what holds America back and keeps us from being as good as we can be." On the August 19, 2009, edition of MSNBC's Morning Meeting, Independent Women's Forum CEO Michelle Bernard stated:Quite the spetacle of conservative thought, isn't it?
The labor unions right now simply exist for one reason: To self-perpetuate, receiving union dues, and having political influence. I think it's absolutely amazing to watch that clip from The Rachel Maddow Show last night where this guy is, he's saying to President Obama, "I'm strong arming you, buddy."
And my answer to this would be they are showing themselves to be as ridiculous as many members of the American public think they are. What happened to pragmatism, what happened to competition, and what actually happened to winning? Maybe it would be great for the Democratic Party to lose the support of labor unions because quite honestly, a lot of labor unions are what holds America back and keeps us from being as good as we can be.
Some people simply don't like unions. Some people blame teachers for all the failings of our educational system. But those failures do not lie solely on the shoulders of teachers and their unions. Making them a scapegoat neither improves the teaching our students receive nor solves the problems of educating all of our children.Teacher's unions aren't there to hire and be oppressive monsters causing the denigration of our education in this country, like the likes of Bernard, John Legend, and others would like you to believe.
Peace.
