Weiner: "The President Has To Lead On This."
No one needed to tell Bush that he needed to lead on Iraq's lies. No one needed to tell Shrub that he had to lead on Social Security lies.
No one needed to tell the worst President ever, Mr. 27%, that he needed to lead on FISA.
That' s one thing that Bush did well, though Cheney did it for him of course.
Can you imagine anyone in the House that was a Republican telling Bush he needed to lead on an issue for them?
You know the answer to that, I shouldn't have even offended your intelligence and your time with that one.
Today, I have talked to some who feel that Organizing for America is fighting for a public option. I'm sorry, but I just don't believe that fully until I see a change in the way things are being done in the Senate. Some are giving Obama cover, that he is resorting the sense of democracy and the branches of government by letting the Senate and House craft their bills.
That is all fine and dandy. And that is how it technically should ALWAYS be. It's definitely something that didn't transpire the previous eight years of course, let alone any of the last few Republican controlled Congresses.
But there comes a point where YOU are President, and THEY are Senators for a reason. And it also comes to a point when 76% support a public option, and have elected Democrats to be, well, Democrats instead of lobbyists loving chum buddies with the ones who were amicable to them while they were in charge at the least bit.
Yes, it gets tiring when one after another starts telling the President you need to do this or I'm going to be pissed. We get it already because we are all saying it.
Here is another matter, and it comes from a guy who along with many other progressives on this issue have put their foot in the sand. Public option or no, that is what it's going to be because they have to save people's lives and not further anger the constituents that they already have exacerbated by this issue even coming to this.
Rahm Emmanuel is not President. Harry Reid is not President. Max Baucus, Kent Conrad, Olympia Snowne, Susan Collins, and Chuck Grassley sure as hell are not the President.
Someone has got to be the President here, instead of just wanting any bill to say "Victory" at the end of the day. Especially for his most ardent, and informed, supporters.
