Music Thread #1 for 6/8/09: The Rundown

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street crew are still going strong.

Didn't know this, but Jagged Edge is signed to Slip-n-Slide Records. And they highlighted their frustration over being at Def Jam.
"The Def Jam situation wasn't best-suited for us," he says. "When we went to Def Jam there were already issues between L.A. Reid and Jermaine Dupri, which we didn't know about. For Jermaine to take us from Columbia to a situation where we had to fight everyday, it didn't make any sense.

"We had our own issues with Columbia, but at the same time it was home for 10 or 11 years," he continues. "If you take us from that you have to prepare to fight for us."
Bret Michaels got hurt last night apparently

The music's threads HAHA of the day
Wayne says he doesn't have any other roles lined up yet, but his album The Rebirth is dropping August 18. If Wayne had to choose his dream movie role, it's easy for Weezy: He'd be the Kid.

"Prince in Purple Rain," he answered when asked what role he would want. "Watch out now."
New York's Hot 97, WQHT, has diminished greatly over the years. But Summer Jam is one thing that is always on point.

And it produced another moment for Jay-Z to slam the autotone obsessed
"The guys who did it, did it great," Jay told Flex and Mister Cee. "T-Pain, he does great melodies. If you listen to Kanye, great melodies. If you listen to [West's] 'Say You Will' or 'Heartless,' great melodies. [Lil Wayne and T-Pain's] 'Lollipop' was a fantastic melody. Everybody can't do it. Let them guys do it. They got their little niche, let's move on. That's just my opinion. I don't know if everybody feels the same way."
