Sports Thread #2 For 10/7/09: LeBron Wins- Braylon Edwards Is Traded To The Jets

The man gets people not even in his own sport traded out of town.

But it had of course much more to do with Edwards wearing out his time with the Browns. We know all about the drops last year, but Edwards to me even lose a gear on his speed at some point last year. He just didn't seem to strike fear into defenses at all, and his effort diminished significantly in 2008.

Now part of Edwards' rapid decline was (and still is) because of the Browns' irrational obsession, first with Romeo Crennel and now with Eric Mangini, to play Brady Quinn over proven starter Derek Anderson. It wasn't a coincidence on Sunday that the Browns finally play well when Anderson was in the lineup.

At all.

Simultaneously though, Edwards lost his cutting edge, and his hard hands that plagued him in at Michigan reared their ugly head last year. The off the field stuff were the final straw for him to egress Cleveland, but Edwards' production was of course the main factor in this event. But hey, I would leave the Browns, because they won't be good for a long, LONG time.

Edwards will be more than buoyed to go to the Jets. It will revive his struggling young career in my mind for him, especially it being a contract year for him.

I wish the jets would have had Brandon Marshall instead (or even Michael Crabtree) at day's end. But not a bad move though at all for them to at least try here. Now Edwards has to be fully into "carpe diem" right now.

And he won't have to worry about LeBron or LeBron's friends being in town.........unless he comes to the Knicks or the Nets next year.
