The Break/Sports Thread #1 For 1/11/10: Mark McGwire Finally Admits He Took Steriods

Well he finally admitted what everyone knew. And he went all the way by saying the "S" word

Mark McGwire came clean Monday, admitting he used steroids when he broke baseball's home run record in 1998.

McGwire said in a statement sent to The Associated Press on Monday that he used steroids on and off for nearly a decade.

"I wish I had never touched steroids," McGwire said in a statement. "It was foolish and it was a mistake. I truly apologize. Looking back, I wish I had never played during the steroid era."

More thoughts to come, but my primary premise still remains the same on whether steroid hitters such as McGwire, Sammy Sosa and Barry Bonds deserve to go to the Hall of Fame. It was just the hitters taking the stuff, it was the pitchers too.

And who knows who took what?

It probably is a thought though that McGwire is happy to finally get rid of. And it needed to be said since he is preparing to be the Cardinals hitting coach going into the forthcoming season.
