A Lesson That Needs To Be Learned, But Won't Be
The "Mayor of Revisionist Lies" insulting display this morning presented itself yet another embarrassing moment not only for him and the Republican Party, but also the nation's media.
You would have thought that Giulieni was on his own right wing hate radio show spewing the utter garbage he spat this morning, uncontested and uninterrupted.
It sure did feel like it was his show, because George Stephanopoulos basically was the discredited mayor's second microphone the minute he didn't scream "WOW WOW WOW, Rudy, did you just try an attempt at one of the worst jokes ever from your usually unfunny self" after the now infamous line.
It you were any sort of journalist or truth seeker witnessing Stephanopoulos bizarre cavalier nature in letting him utter that scary lie, you would have every right to cry.
All the fallout from the networks have focused all their attention at Giuliani making himself an insane fool for blatantly trying to retell you what happened in 2001. (I really fear that he will next say the Yankees beat the Diamondbacks in the World Series soon.)
But just as much of a royal loser and sad case as Giuliani is Stephanopoulos himself.
You won't here any your local or national television news anchor discuss how the "This Week" anchor needs to be made a royal laughing stock for letting those comments go unassailed right on his watch. You'll only find the excoriating sentiments on Stephanopoulos's pathetic display of journalism from the likes of Media Matters, a few liberal sites, and Olbermann from time to time (though not probably in this situation):
Even more disturbing is the fact that Stephanopoulos is the latest to let horrible fabrications of 9/11 (and other events against on the nation) go into the ears of those delusional enough to believe what Giulieni said.
You would think that this event of all events would be the one where the mean spirited right-wing would leave alone and not bother to make a political football out of. Yet the minute hateful Dana Perino was given carte blanche to say it under the watchful big arrogant chin of Sean Insanity, it was a stinging reminder of why you can never put pass anything these people won't cross the line on.
Maybe it was just an anomaly where at least someone on the right would embarrass her publicly for saying an event that at least, for once, they wouldn't have their own historical accounts in comparison to reality. It would go away with no one even thinking of traveling the shocking route that Perino went a month and a half ago.
Instead, you have Mary Matalin and Giulieni happily go on their route to spit the unconscious things this week in comfort that we have all heard .
But the public blame needs to not only go to them, but Stephanopoulos, and the two Kings who need to be renamed Larry and John Pauper for how truly poor their political interviewing skills were (and usually are, especially for the much younger one).
We'll have segments filled with Democratic strategists and liberal point of views where all the "What the hell was he thinking" comments will be dedicated to just Giuliani alone, similar to anyone talking about what extraterrestrial drug Perino or Matalin were taking when they uttered the dung they both gave recently.
WhIle those nuts will get as much just deserts as they will deserved, those "journalists" who played the role as innocent bystanders will mostly get away without enduring the same amount of denunciation they deserve as well.
That feeling from this writer has ever so slightly changed however with Stephanopoulos actually apologizing today from the criticism that has seemed to hit him to the point of doing so, through it was an apology that wasn't even all that great
But while he apologized, you won't here one from the King duo for allowing what they allowed on their shows.
Our pathetic corporate media's unwillingness is never a surprise anymore to anyone on this site or apart of the rational online community throughout. But it is stunning how the nadir of the profession by them continues to be reset at every blink of the eye.
George Stephanopoulos felt some embarrassment for adding to another woeful moment of modern journalism in America today. But until the accountability for the interviewer is the same as the interviewee for allowing disturbing misinformation to go freely, "TV journalists" will continue to sully the profession without facing the necessary ramifications.
Savannah Guthrie and Chuck Todd, I know you probably won't heed the advice.

Through his spokesman, Rudy Giuliani has clarified the remarks he made this morning on GMA regarding terrorist attacks on the United States under Presidents Bush and Obama.
The Mayor’s spokesman says that the remark “didn't come across as it was intended” and that Giuliani was “clearly talking post-9/11 with regards to Islamic terrorist attacks on our soil.”
Whatever the Mayor meant, it’s not what he said. All of you who have pointed out that I should have pressed him on that misstatement in the moment are right. My mistake, my responsibility.
