1/29/09- TWD's Agenda For The Day: They Just Don't Learn
I guess the more they lose, the more idiotic they act or think.
That most be the case with the Republican Party, as yesterday's shameful action of partisanship by their House members for not casting a single veto for approval of the stimulus bill showed the Obama Administration that being nice to these people doesn't mean a damn thing.
They probably knew that however, and just wanted to see how radical these people would still be despite the current disaster the SOP is in at the moment. And because of their unwillingness to act like grownups in a situation that begs for just that, they seem to already have placed themselves in the doghouse of the new cabinet in just the first month (via the great TomP at the Kos):
Thankfully that isn't the case, and hopefully, this mindset from John Kerry about the SOP's usual selfish actions will be the case:
The Agenda's Pending Schedule will make its return today in the comments section. Peace.

Pushing back against the unanimous House Republican vote against President Obama’s stimulus plan, the White House plans to release state-by-state job figures “so we can put a number on what folks voted for an against,” an administration aide said.From Clamnyc at the Kos, Here are some of the many "working class, immediate help for family" items the House SOP refused to vote for.
“It’s clear the Republicans who voted against the stimulus represent constituents who will be stunned to learn their member of Congress voted against [saving or] creating 4 million jobs,” the aide said.
# An increase in the maximum benefit under the former food stamp program (now called the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program or SNAP);And that is probably half of the many things the lower to middle class families would have been denied if there was a Republican majority instead of a Democratic one in the House.
# An expansion of broadband internet access to rural areas of America;
# Programs to improve infrastructure and develop rural communities;
# Improvements to the criminal justice system;
# funding for science and technology research;
# Funding for the Community Oriented Policing Services;
# Funding to repair, maintain and renovate the Department of Defense (DoD) facilities;
# Energy efficiency projects and modernization of heating/cooling and electrical systems at the DoD;
# Improving Army barracks;
# Energy related research and development (renewable energy programs and expansion of existing weatherization activites);
# Funding for the Army Corps of Engineers (remember the levees in New Orleans that weren’t funded?;
# Modernization of the nation’s electrical grid;
# Construction and repair of Federal facilities;
# Funding for clean water programs and water infrastructure projects;
# Capital improvements and maintenance for Forest Service and National Park Service, the Superfund program and wildland fire management;
# Funding for the Department of Health and Human Services;
# Funding for labor and employment training programs/Department of Labor;
# Renovations to elementary and secondary schools;
Thankfully that isn't the case, and hopefully, this mindset from John Kerry about the SOP's usual selfish actions will be the case:
“If they’re not going to vote for it, let’s go with a plan that we think is going to work.”Why waste time with petty children when the lives of the American public is at stake?
