Bipartisanship That's Actually, You Know, Good!
Photo from Truthout.comIn this case, it is!
Thanks to Alan Grayson guy and RON PAUL, bipartisanship was actually in the favor of the American people in the push back on bank lobbying puppet Mel Watt, who tried to take away your chance to see what the hell transactions the Federal Reserve was doing with the financial industry.
Thankfully it didn't go Watt and his supporters way:
Today, the House Financial Services Committee passed an amendment to their financial regulatory reform bill that would mandate an audit of the Federal Reserve. The Paul-Grayson amendment, named for its chief sponsors, Reps. Ron Paul and Alan Grayson, passed the committee by a count of 43-26.Almost with a similar feeling of last night's "Too Big Too Fail" banks vote, this one has a ways to go in order to be law.
The lobbying challenges will get strong, and there virtually is no chance that this will get passed before years end unless the extraordinary happens.
But it is a rare, VERY RARE, refreshing example of how not all bipartisanship, even in these times, is "corrupt status quo" behavior.
