Sports Saturday Thread #2 For 11/14/09: 2010 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers/Playoffs

Already talked about New Zealand this morning going to the big dance. And today, African powerhouses Cameroon and Nigeria return to the World Cup today. Obafemi Martins the hero today for the Super Eagles with two goals including the winner.

Now, the picture turns to the European playoffs now.....

Russia let up a crucial away goal to Slovenia, as that first leg ended up at 2-1.

No score between Greece and Ukraine.

Hopefully I can get Portugal/Bosnia and/or Ireland/France Live....no score in both contests at this moment.

Updated: France have taken a 1-0 nothing lead.....off a St.Ledgen own goal off a deflected Nicholas Anelka shot. Portugal have a one-nothing lead over B-H.

Updated 2: France has scored the 1-0 win on the road in Ireland, with the crucial away goal. Meanwhile, Portugal only one win 1-0 nothing against Bosnia, making that 2nd leg encounter high drama on Wednesday indeed.

Meanwhile, it will be high drama between Egypt and Algeria, as they will meet again in a one off thriller in Sudan. Egypt forced the playoff today with a 2-0 win in Cairo today.
