The S-Thread #1 For 10/2/12 (Final version): 2012-13 UEFA Champions League Matchnight 3 Thread

First version: Already a great win for Celtic today, and now the night session, with halftime observations and postmatch thoughts, standings, and team of the day coming up later.

The Halftime Update:

And there you go.

The Post Game reactions with first the best XI of the night:

Pyatov (Donetsk); Alves, Douglao (Braga), Puyol, Izaguirre (Celtic);  Mata, Xavi, Brown (Celtic), Volodko (Bate) ; Jonas, Van Persie

And the quick points on the evening:

1) Bate Borisov pulls the result of the night, handing Bayern their first defeat of the season. They top the group, and have sent a notice to everyone in this competition that they are not settling for second best on any night.

2) All hearts around the football world go to the mercurial Barcelona captain Carles Puyol. No more description needed for his awful injury tonight.

3) Also rising to Europe's elite is Braga, with another credential enhancing display on the road today against Galatasaray, a great 2-0 win.

4) And speaking of great road wins, finally for Glasgow Celtic, who won their first match in history away from home in the Champions League to raise their chances significantly of advancing to the knockout stage and giving Spartak a crushing home defeat.

See you all tomorrow for Matchday 4 of the group stages for this season. Peace.
