The 2010 FIFA World Cup Thread #2/Sports Sunday Thread #2 For 6/13/10: Gyan The Hero, Kuzmanovic The Zero As Ghana Wins Without Essien, Muntari

There is your hero there, and emotions are there for all to see folks:
And look who the total zero is the total zero......
And we really shouldn't be surprised at all:
Le sigh, he certainly does, but that was a bridge too far from him.

For Ghana though, what a display for the first part of the second half before they went up and man, when their young midfield showed their inexperience and let up, allowing Serbia to attack and get great chances against their veteran defense.

What can you say about Awey, Annan and the amazing story that is Tagoe. Seriously, Tagoe's story is worth the read and thensome , because he almost couldn't play this game again.

Still though, Serbia's class players on the day that were very disappointing. And for a team picked by some, including myself, to top this group, you cannot lose this game against a Ghana team without their stalwart stars in the midfield. Totally inexcusable.

This is a massive result and already shapes the balance of Group D, the tournament's Group of Death in my mind. And it will put some pressure on a young German side and their manager Joachim Low, as Australia is getting talked about so negatively here and will be keen to give Deutschland.

And if I were Newcastle (or any of the teams coming up in the Barclays Premier League or La Liga BBVA), I would buy Asamoah Gyan in a hurry. That guy showed in the last World Cup, at Rennes the last few years, and today that he is a quality striker with all the skills, and doesn't shine away in the big moments. He is a good proven talent with a lot of heart.

The full review is here .

And here is the achieved Game Thread:

The real group of death folks, in my eyes:
From FIFA.com and Getty Images
The lineups:

Serbia: Stojkovic, Kolarov, Vidic, Ivanovic, Pantelic, Stankovic, Milijas, Lukovic, Jovanovic, Zigic, Krasic

Ghana: Kingson, Sarpei, A Gyan, Pantsil, Mensah, Annan, Tagoe, A. Ayew, Vorsah, K. Asamoah, Prince
No Appiah for Ghana in the starting 11, and no Subotic here for Serbia.

Prediction: Exciting contest, but it ends in a draw I think between Ghana and Sebia, even with Essien's lost. 1-1 tie.

The 1st half analysis:
Who will get the final ball through these two teams quality defending. It's been good play and ambition, just the final ball lacking.
