Security in India-controlled Kashmir was tightened Friday ahead of Indian Independence Day on Saturday, police said.

Authorities have deployed contingents of local police and paramilitary troopers in the Srinagar city around the Bakhshi Stadium, the main venue of Indian Independence Day celebrations in the region.

Policemen and troopers deployed on the roads of Srinagar city are frisking the pedestrians and vehicles to ward off any militant attack. Even the sniffer dogs have been pressed into service to detect explosives.
But that won't shop the celebrations from happening.
