The Mouse Caving To The Elephant? (Updated: Now Everyone Caves)
In this media world, only that scenario is possible ABC News has decided to air a Republican response to Obama’s big health care address to a joint session of Congress next week, a network spokesperson confirms to us, all but ensuring that the other major networks will follow suit. And now apparently, everyone one else will join in on listening to the irrelevant party.
The decision will alter the politics of what promises to be a major political event with potentially dramatic consequences for the White House and for reform, and could set off a scramble among Republicans to be selected for the role of delivering that response.
ABC News’ decision comes after House GOP leader John Boehner sent a formal request asking networks to make time to air a GOP answer to Obama’s address. Boehner pointed out that Governor Carroll Campbell of South Carolina was granted airtime to answer Bill Clinton’s 1993 health care speech.
ABC news spokesperson Emily Lenzner confirms to our reporter, Ryan Derousseau, that the network has decided to carry the Republican response. The respondent has not yet been chosen.
CNN just sent out a release saying they’ll be carrying the GOP response, and CBS and NBC will air it too. All the networks are in.The networks all love giving a voice to irrelevant people.
I wonder where was the Democratic response broadcasted to the Bush tax cuts?
Your liberal media.
