Sports Saturday Thread #2 For 12/5/09: McElroy Brilliant As Tide Get Revenge, Dominate Gators To Win The SEC

Coming into the 2009 Southeastern Conference title game, there were many doubters as to whether Grey McElroy was going to be the difference maker that Tim Tebow was on the other side of the ball. Those doubters, including myself, were rightfully silenced.
McElroy was the last cog needed for Nick Saban's side to get revenge over Urban Meyer's outfit, and he turned out with the game of his life.
McElroy's efficient display was arguably the key protagonist in the Crimson Tide's resounding 32-13 win over Florida.
Not only did the 'Bama signal caller not make any crucial errors in this momentous of games, but McElroy even outplayed his much more decorated counterpart by making many more big plays and complimenting the great one-two punch of Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson.
Ingram cemented himself as a worthy Heisman Trophy candidate, shaking off the hip injury he picked up last week against Auburn. Three touchdowns on the biggest of stages, including a massive 70 plus yard reception in the 2nd quarter after Florida had all the momentum to draw the game to a 12-10 scoreline.
And for Tebow, the emotion on his face says it all:

He tried his hardest, but a crucial 4th quarter interception into the hands of Javier Arenas sealed the end of Florida's nation long winning streak, and the Tebow SEC era.
Alabama with see if Texas will win tonight to see if they will be their opponent in the BS, I mean, the BCS title game. But first, they will party all night in Atlanta, and throughout.
