Sports Thread #2 For 5/24/10: 2010 French Open, Day 2

Live right now, and in the midst of another Richard Gasquet meltdown?

Either way, credit to Andy Murray if he pulls off this comeback. And it may embolden him to become a true dark horse contender here at Roland Garros, a sentiment most would not have even been crazy to think going into this match, including Murray himself.

And Murray does pull off the comeback, taking the final set in comfortable fashion 6-1. Gasquet tired out and didn't show enough for me, but credit to Murray for hanging the course being down two sets and a break.

Roger Federer was comprehensively sharp today, a rarity for him to be so terrific in the first round. He handled a pretty game Peter Luzcak of Australia in straights. And he called it "a perfect match." It really was.

Serena Williams played well against a very tough and talented Stephanie Voegle, winning easily in the second set after a tiebreak first set victory.

It was full stream ahead for Caroline Wozniacki, as she won comfortably over a dangerous but still erratic Alla Kudryavtseva 6-0, 6-3. A facile time also for Elena Dementieva, as she routed Petra Matric 1 and 1.

(More to come here in this thread folks).
