SANTIAGO (BNO NEWS) -- A strong earthquake struck central Chile on Monday, seismologists said. There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

The 6.4-magnitude earthquake at 7.09 p.m. local time was centered about 110 kilometers (68 miles) northwest of Concepcion. It struck about 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) deep, making it a shallow earthquake, according to the NOAA Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.

No tsunami warnings were issued.
