The 1st Thread For 3/4/10: Let's Stop This Now Before It Becomes The Memo

Even though my efforts will be painful futile.

As news broke on Eric Massa would be resigning from the House for reasons we don't know, it became somehow incumbent on Luke Russert to just assert that the "Democrats could have a Mark Foley" problem.

Huh?

Media Matters' Jeremy Schulman explains very well how Russert shows the latest example of how sad our media is:

Just to refresh Russert's memory, the "Mark Foley situation" wasn't limited to Foley's inappropriate emails and explicit instant messages to teenage House pages. It also involved the widespread failure of Republican members of Congress and their staffs to appropriately address Foley's behavior when they had the chance. Or, as the House ethics committee put it in their report on the matter, "The Investigative Subcommittee finds that few of the individuals who ultimately came to participate in those events handled their roles in the manner that should be expected given the important and sensitive nature of the issues involved."

You know, I have yet to see any Democrat in the House act inappropriately at all, but what's stopping a baseless false equivalence from being pronounced by Big Russ' grandson?

However, maybe Russert is starting a trend of driving the news and opinions of his fellow colleagues in D.C. Because just this morning, Chuck Todd picked up on the idea to label this the same thing:


So maybe someone can direct Todd to Schulman's post? In fact, maybe we can direct everyone towards this post as well?

Either way, get ready to endure another idiotic memo of false equivalence coming you're way.
