The Sandy Aftermath Thread #1 For 11/4/12: The Forgotten Borough

King Mike and one of his many wealthy buddies in Road Runners queen Mary Wittenberg were full stream ahead with having their marathon go as planned today all throughout Friday, until regular New Yorkers, especially in the marathon's starting point in Staten Island, gave their thoughts on how idiotic and immoral their out of touch plutocratic thoughts were.

One Staten Island native putting it clear as day how angry they were (and still are) at Bloomberg was Maryanne Alessio on Fox News' Neil Cavuto, a network that certainly felt the need to rip Bloomberg constantly after he tepidly endorsed Obama the day before.

It was one of the rare times when Fox News and Cavuto actually produced something meaningful and worth a damn (Apologies for the audio being low and not having the equipment to get it properly off TV yet, but if you are in a quiet location and turn the volume up to its highest, you will hear it all).

"I think the marathon is a disgrace and shame on Bloomberg, shame on that man."
"It's a disgrace what he is doing, it's a disgrace. Putting a marathons up in hotels in the city where here in Staten Island people who are middle class people are homeless and they don't have a place to live. They are pitching up tents in the street, trying to keep themselves warm with little children, that's how bad it's here in Staten Island, we are the forgotten borough.
"And shame on Bloomberg for not even coming here to look over the devastation that has been done here."
His concern is for Manhattan. He's drawing up a sunshine picture, and it's not a sunshine picture. I don't think New York City is ready for any marathon to come to Staten Island and cross that (Verazano) Bridge."
It really will be fascinating to see if Bloomberg has the audacity to still run for president in 2016. Because if Staten Island won't vote for him, who in the world will?
