The 1st Thread/The Reel Feel For 12/4/12: No, He Was Solely A Coward

In just my opinion, the coward that was Jovan Belcher was in full control of what he was doing in tragically killing the mother of his daughter Kasandra Perkins.

And he knew in his moment of rage that what he did was so regrettable later on that he decided to take himself out instead of face the consequences of his horrific and sad action. He feared and knew that he would lose the football life that he loved due to just that one moment of incorrigible behavior and could not live with his life changing decision in prison for many years to come.

What's also telling is how drunk and party oriented Belcher was during the season and 48 hours prior to the game. Would Belcher even place himself in this position of hard social living if the Chiefs were actually not as awful as they have been this season?

Some guys around the NFL definitely party during the season, whether after the game or even before the game. The great Lawrence Taylor has documented a number of times how he would be out at clubs drinking before a game many Saturday nights, only to be the most feared defensive force in the NFL a few hours later on many Sunday afternoons.

Regardless of that question, the thing that I rule out here completely is any head damage or trauma influencing Belcher to do his heinous last acts.

Belcher never had a history of concussions in his career despite being a undrafted, tough and starting linebacker for four years in the NFL.

There's a lot of people trying to vaguely link professional football head trauma and domestic violence to Belcher's case, like it was a direct part of his life. Those factors so prevalent in this NFL just cannot be undisputedly placed on Belcher's life. It muddles the situation instead of correctly analyzing Belcher for just his case, not the broad case of many others.

The only two sentiments that I strongly believe in from this tragedy are America's constant gun problem and the unwavering view in my mind that Jovan Belcher was an eternal coward for what he did to the mother of his children (yet alone an irresponsible athlete drinking in the middle of a season and hours before a game).

And he could not own up to the shameful act and pain that he has brought to a bevy of people, including his 3-month old child Zoe, now without either of her parents.

Zoe will know sadly that pusillanimous behavior by her father is why he and her mother no longer exist on this Earth.

Cowardice is something that usually isn't associated with an undrafted NFL linebacker. But it's something that personified the final shameful actions of Jovan Belcher's life.

(More on The Whole Delivery to come, later on in the day).
