First, the big Senate races that have not been covered. Remember, the Democrats will have a magical filibuster proof in the Senate if they reach 60 seats and Barack Obama becomes President of this country :
1)In New Hampshire, expect Jeanne Shaheen to defeat John Sununu in comfortable fashion.
2)In Maine, Susan Collins may prove to even be too much for Tom Allen, but anything can happen there. That will be a nail biter.
3)The same will be said in Georgia tonight, where I predict Jim Martin will get the big upset win over Saxby Chambliss and make Markos Moulitsas jump even higher than he already will tonight. Martin has come out of nowhere to make this one of the must see races tonight.
4)No surprise in North Carolina. Elizabeth Dole basically gave Kay Hagan the election last week after that now forever notorious "Shameless" ad.
5)But if you thought the Republican Party was sad to see one of its celebrities leaving ranks, just imagine how demoralized the Party will fill if they lose Mitch McConnell, the Senate Minority Leader? And they will tonight, as Bruce Lunsford will score another big win for a potentially big night for Democrats and liberals in this country.
In addition:
Expect Jeff Merkeley to dispatch Gordon Smith in Oregon, Mark Begich to take over the now disgraced Ted Stevens spot, and both Udall brothers (Mark in Colorado and Tom in New Mexico) to ride the Obama wave and win against their respective opponents (Bob Schaffer and Steve Pearce)
At nights end, I think the Democrats perfect night will be not only because of Obama's convincing win, but also because of reaching the magical 60 number in the Senate. In short, it is not a great time to be a Republican now.
As slated, for your election results, try a variety of places, or just here or here.
