Sports Thread #2 for 11/1/08 on 11/2/08: CFB Review #2- The Beauty and Brilliance of the Big 12 South

It takes a hell of a lot to push the Southeastern Conference into the bridesmaid spot of most powerful league in the land. But the Big 12 conference, thanks mainly and only impart to its Southern division, has indeed done so.

It has been a a magical three weeks of football in this Southern division of now the nation's premiere football conference, with its latest chapter being its greatest chapter. Texas Tech exhilarating 39-33 classic win over rivals Texas was something that will truly go down as one of the games of the decade. Heck, from the Lone Star State to both the Pacific and Atlantic coasts, it is a game that will certainly be remembered for a long, long time.

And poor Black Gideon. The Texas secondary man had the chance to ice the game, as it looked like he was going to catch the deflected Graham Harell pass intended for receiver Edward Britton. The despair on his faces, and the rest of the Longhorns, coupled with the exuberance never seen before in Lubbock on the facades of the Red Raiders showed how indelible this game, as the rest of the year in the BIG 12 South has been.

And it will only get better, after this. More on this classic encounter later, for sure.
