The Album Sales Review/Music Thread #1 For 9/29/10: Zac Brown Band Gets #1 In The Land, While Maroon 5 Looks Shaky

Country music fans sure do love buying their artists' albums:
Zac Brown Band nets its first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart, as "You Get What You Give" bows atop the list with 153,000 sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The country act's major label debut, "The Foundation," peaked at No. 9 in May.

"Give" also grants Zac Brown Band its best sales week, previously earned when "Foundation" shifted 62,000 over Christmas in 2009.

Meanwhile, it seems like no really cares for Adam Levine and company anymore:
Maroon 5's third studio set, "Hands All Over," enters in the runner-up slot with 142,000. The band's last effort, 2007's "It Won't Be Soon Before Long," debuted at No. 1 with 429,000 in its first week. "Hands" is Maroon 5's third top 10 set following "Won't" and its premiere effort, 2003's "Songs About Jane," which reached No. 6.
There hasn't been a lot of ubiquitous promotion for "Hands All Over." And that, along with the group losing its overall buzz, probably lead to them having a major decline in sales.

Just one other major notable:
Eminem's "Recovery" hangs in the top 10 for a 14th straight week -- its entire chart run -- moving down three spots to No. 6, also with a bit under 66,000 (down 26%).
That album continues to be a serious juggernaut.

In regards to the rest of the Top 10, last week's top charter Linkin Park takes the #3 spot, followed by Selena Gomez "A Year Without Rain." Santana's "Guitar Heaven" hits #5, while Trey Songz comes after Eminem's "Recovery" with "Passion, Pain & Pleasure" at the 7 spot.

Rounding out spots 8 through 10 are John Legend and the Roots' "Wake Up" collaboration, country singer Billy Currington's "Enjoy Yourself", and the Bieber kind with "My World 2.0."

Plus the sales continue to decline:
Overall album sales in this past chart week (ending Sept. 26) totaled 5.03 million units, down 6% compared to the sum last week (5.35 million) and down15% compared to the comparable sales week of 2009 (5.93 million). Year to date album sales stand at 215.8 million, down 13% compared to the same total at this point last year (248.0 million).
