A common sense move that needed to happen seems on the verge of being official:
There are indications that manager Reds Dusty Baker will sign a contract extension, and that it will happen soon.

The Dayton Daily News reported Thursday that Baker and the club were close to a deal that would bring back the 61-year-old skipper.

Baker, the Reds' manager since 2008, was offered a new deal in mid-August but has refused to speak publicly about negotiations. The offer was believed to be for at least two seasons. He earned around $10.5 million during his current three-year deal.
Alberto Contador really brought a needed level of integrity to the sport of cycling, didn't he?

News on the Jets front, as they signed Trevor Pryce away from the Ravens today, while Darelle Revis has been ruled out against the Bills this weekend.

David Stern really does represent his last name:
Washington Wizards majority owner Ted Leonsis told local business leaders Wednesday that he expects the NBA soon will have a hard salary cap similar to the NHL's model.

Did you know, that league with the acronym of the NHL is starting in a week's time??

And American tennis veteran Robby Ginepri's forgettable 2010 ends in even worse fashion:
Robby Ginepri will miss the remainder of the 2010 ATP World Tour season after a freak mountain biking accident last week. Ginepri was riding near his hometown in Kennesaw, Georgia, when a squirrel ran into his path. The American fell off his bike as he swerved to avoid running over the squirrel and rolled about 50 yards, breaking his left elbow at the ulna bone.
Painful indeed.
