The NBA Silly Season Thread #1/Sports Thread #1 For 7/7/10: Chris Bosh Goes To Miami
From ESPLebroN.
It is quiet amazing how the Toronto Raptors thought they could boss Chris Bosh around considering that Bosh was.......a free agent.
You could understand if they were angry at Bosh for talking to LeBron and D-Wade if the Georgia Tech alum was in the situation that Carmelo Anthony is in (one year still on the books with Denver, meaning he is simply no free agent and is own still). But the fact of the matter is this: Bosh could do whatever the hell he wanted.
I find it amazing that Larry Tanenbaum, Richard Peddie, and the rest of the chairmen of the Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment Group would act so petty like that and not use simple common sense.
Because of how they smeared Bosh and complained about him tweeting about his process (which by the way, were so harmless and just gave simple updates that basically the news had reported on anyway), they made it acrimonious with their now former power forward.
Instead of potentially making Bosh feel a little better about maybe playing in the direct middle with LeBron in Cleveland (something he doesn't want to do at all) and getting J.J. Hickson back in a sign and trade deal, the Maple Leaf guys exhibited attitudes softer than a.........maple leaf.
Now it will be interesting to see who will play center for this Heat team, because they frankly don't have a true center still. Jamal Maglorie's best days are behind him, and Joel Anthony, through improved, is still more of a bench player than a starter.
Clearly, both Udonis Haslem and Michael Beasley are nowhere near center material, especially against Dwight Howard. And asking Bosh to cover Howard down low (especially with the Magic center comes to score on certain nights and dominate on the offensive end) is still a big disadvantage for him.
Either way, only time will tell what will happen down there with this moves. But I know one thing is for sure: Eric Spoelstra's days as Heat coach maybe winding down in the return of Mr. Reilly to the bench.
Update: Now Bosh could still make up with the Maple Leaf Grup and do a sign and trade, but it will take some reconciliation for that to happen.
