Yesterday's Leftovers For 7/7/10: "Punishment Is Only For The The Little People"

Yesterday, as most many know, Bradley Manning, the leaker to Wikileaks of the infamous US soldiers shouting Iraqi civilians, received criminal charges.

The attack on whistleblowers from the Obama Administration is just as intense and reckless as if they were the Cheney/Bush Administration.

And the brilliant and intrepid Jesselyn Radack has another massive post over at the Kos, talking about and reminding people how President Obama has clearly changed his stance on protecting whistleblowers like Manning and Tom Drake.

Damaging:

Protect Whistleblowers: Often the best source of information about waste, fraud, and abuse in government is an existing government employee committed to public integrity and willing to speak out. Such acts of courage and patriotism, which can sometimes save lives and often save taxpayer dollars, should be encouraged rather than stifled. We need to empower federal employees as watchdogs of wrongdoing and partners in performance. Barack Obama will strengthen whistleblower laws to protect federal workers who expose waste, fraud, and abuse of authority in government. Obama will ensure that federal agencies expedite the process for reviewing whistleblower claims and whistleblowers have full access to courts and due process.

Not ever for them.

So why Cheney and his puppet daughter, Professor Condi Rice and John Yoo, and all the others can live their nice peaceful lives, there is no "looking back" on Manning, Drake, or any whistleblower just telling the painful real truth.

The Pentagon and private contractors and corporations still clearly run this country, and not the President.
