9/15/08- TWD's Agenda for the Day- Lehman Brothers Needing a Family to Lean ON
Well today, the financial crisis hit a new nadir today, as Lehman Brothers made it official. They have filed for Chapter 11 today, which means they have filed for bankruptcy. It isn't pretty. And it is hurting everywhere today, in both weird, capricious, and downright jaw dropping ways (we'll explain more later).
We have Bush today stunned into more stupidity, as he couldn't muster up his alter-world image that he normally does (and what was more embarrassing today is how he had to side step this with talking about Ghana's democracy with their president John Kufuor. I could imagine Kufuor thinking up there that he wants Obama to be president as soon as possible.) We have columns from renowned financial commentator Paul Krugman of the New York Times keeping it real in regards to those asking "Where the hell were the regulators at" in the disaster this has become. As mention above, we will have even more on this later.
And finally, on the next thread above this one, you will have the Vince Young column that has been promised for a while, via at the Reel Feel. The downtrodden figure that is the Titans franchise quarterback spoke today in a press conference, and pledged his committment to the Titans. The most important thing however was just seeing him, and hoping that the support will be there for him.
The agenda, which will include praise given to Carlos Zambrano pitching a no-hitter last night, aganist an Astros team who definitely felt the effects of Hurricane Ike along with almost everyone in the Houston area (and Southeast Texas), will also have a Week 2 NFL Review with a preview of tonight's big rival clash between the Cowboys and the Eagles. These, ladies and gentleman, maybe the two best teams in the NFC, though the Giants and the Packers have something to certainly say about that after the way they have played yesterday.
And much more will be in store, including another stupid comment about the economy's fundamentals being strong from John McCain. What fundamentals is he talking about? And how would a guy like that know when he says about himself "not knowing the economy well enough"
Enjoy the rest of your day, especially here at The Whole Delivery (The Agenda is in the Comments section).
