The Cinema for 10/3/08- Bill Maher's Religulous and the Beloved "Rachel Getting Married"

Now, I'm going to say this and say this quick: I would defeat Bill Maher in a debate about religion, and in particular, my religion. I say that with total conviction.

Nevertheless, I want to see his movie "Religulous" because he is one of my favorite people in television, no matter how much Christians have pissed him by not knowing enough about their religion like they should (and thus, making him back down with their own version of liberal, rational thought). And from the looks of it, it is getting good reviews. Real good reviews.

However, real great reviews is in store for Anne Hathaway, writer Jenny Lumet and director Jonathan Demme for the tremendous "Rachel Getting Married." Hell, when a movie gets five stars, that says something there. And it makes up for the disaster of a movie "Get Smart" was for both her and Steve Carell. She is one of the nicer individuals out there, and it's great to see an actress as classy as her be in a potentially memorable movie that all the critics love and say, "The Oscar winner form best female actress early next year."

But the main credit should be given to Demme and Lumet, because without them, there would be no movie.

Whether you love him or hate him (and I love him), everyone can agree that Bill Maher you think. But who will make him Really think? I would. (Scene from the movie "Religulous." Thanks to the New York Daily News.
