The Sleep Time and Rise "n" Shine Thread for 10/11-12/08: Sunday Talk with Mr.Loomis (And the Love for Rachel Maddow!)

Once again, another weekly classic installment of Sunday Talk, a real preview of the Sunday talk shows currently airing now that is explained so eloquently and gregariously by Sam Loomis himself.

Here's a selection of the Sunday talk shows that he hits so well for what they are, and what they will be today (Again, here's the link):

Meet The Press: NJ Gov. Jon Corzine (D), Passed-over-for-a-moose-hunter Rob Portman (R-OH), WSJ's Paul Gigot and Discovery Channel's Ted Koppel have Very Serious discourse about the moderate, centrist & rational.

Tweety: Howard Fineman, Cynthia Tucker, Hollywood scribe David Ignatius & Gloria Borger. What is the Lieberman 'Doomsday Scenario'?

This Weak: Former Treasury Secretaries Lawrence Summers & James Baker. Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) and Rep. Roy Blunt (R-MO). Paul Krugman, Dan Balz, George Will and the foreign-ish Cokie Roberts talk shop.

Especially that whole thing about Lieberman's Doomsday scenario, that is something to here about for that controversial Senator from Connecticut.

Also, Sam does a great job of highlighting how great Rachel Maddow is, and just as important, how great her show is doing so far.

Credit Keith Olbermann really for being a great mentor for her, and pushing the General Electric execs to give Maddow this show. Credit also must be given to Dan Abrams, who handled the news that Maddow would take his time slot so well that it display how much of a genuine individual he is.

Maddow is respectful, benevolent, and will never come across as biting your head off, no matter if you are an irrational, illogical, and mendacious conservative on the show. For example, that epic interview with nasty and very impertinent McCain economic adviser Nancy Pfotenhauer shows how placid but controlled the Stanford Rhodes Scholar is:

Maddow clearly could have been cut throat, like Olbermann can be if he ever gets a chance to interview a Republican, in that interview and called Pfotenhauer an epic liar of all liars. Instead, Maddow knows that in order for her show to be successful for a long,long time, she can't perpetuate the ridiculous "crazy, mad liberal " agenda that some narrow-thinking figures may lump Olbermann with. Instead, she comes off as classy, for she is classy, and that has facilitated her meteoric rise up the television news world.

As Loomis' colorfully mentions:

Indeed so, and I can't forget this hilarious exchange with her and Olbermann over the summer, when McCain offer his wife up in a raunchy topless contest at a Sturgis, North Dakota biker rally event:

Watch Maddow, who is an open lesbian, at the 3:25 mark of this video. This is why you have got to love her if you are a rational human being.
